Lounge with traditional solid-fuel stove

Reassuringly, whatever the weather on Skye, there’s always a warm welcome to greet you at Braes Retreat.

With the warm and cosy feel from the stove the open-plan apartment is extremely comfortable and inviting. Having been totally refurbished to a high standard in 2007 it is also very well appointed.

The accommodation, which is on two floors, comprises of the following:

Downstairs

A bright and airy hallway, from which you can soak up and enjoy the fantastic view across the garden to the Isle of Raasay.

Newly fitted kitchen area, including microwave, gas cooker and fridge.

Open plan lounge and dining area with a traditional solid fuel stove, two-seater settee plus chair, flat screen television, DVD player, CD player and various books.

Upstairs

Luxurious bedroom with panoramic view

A luxurious bedroom including gallery landing with ever-changing panoramic views across the Sound of Raasay and to the mountains of the mainland.

A compact shower room with WC, wash-hand basin and shaver point.

Notes

With prior notice from our guests we can arrange for the bed to be either a Super King Size (6 foot / 183cm wide) or twin single beds (2 x 3 foot / 91cm wide.)

Please note that access to the apartment is via a stone-stepped pathway from the entrance to the property.

Bed linen and tea towels are provided. Towels can be provided upon request. Electricity and central heating are included at no additional cost, however, there is a £15/week surcharge, payable during your stay, should you wish to use the solid fuel stove to cover the cost of fuel supplied and cleaning at the end of your stay.

Braes Retreat has a no-smoking policy and children under 14 or pets cannot be accommodated. Please read our Terms and Conditions before booking.

Garden

You are very welcome to share and enjoy our garden during your stay, whether it's to sit and relax on the seating provided or wander amongst the trees and shrubs, listening to the birds and the constant sound of the burn making its way through the garden.

There are three bridges crossing the burn and pathways which wind through the garden, taking you to the croft land at the bottom. Here you can meet the chickens and pick the fruit if it's the right time of year.

The views of the surrounding area vary so much at different points in the garden. The changes in the weather, the direction of the sun, boats on the water in the Sound of Raasay and the ever-changing view to Glamaig make it both interesting as well as tranquil.

This photo is the view down over the garden from the apartment front bedroom window. Please do take a look at the photos on the Garden Gallery page to get more of a feel for what awaits you....
